Animoca Brands Investment Fund Pours $1.5 Billion into 340 Crypto and GameFi Ventures

Animoca Brands has allocated over $1.5 billion across more than 340 investments, spanning a wide range of cryptocurrency and blockchain gaming projects, according to a financial report released earlier this week.

This investment fund has played a pivotal role in the blockchain gaming era, notably in NFTs – digital assets used to authenticate unique digital products.

Trading on the Australian stock exchange, Animoca Brands reported bookings and other income of $148 million for Q4 2021 and $573 million for Q1 2022. As of late April 2022, the company held approximately $98 million in cash and $211 million in BUSD, ETH, USDC, USDT, and BTC.

Additionally, the company holds third-party token assets valued at $659 million and digital asset reserves totaling $4.2 billion, which are not recorded in the company's financial statements.

In other developments, Animoca Brands raised $65 million at a $2.2 billion valuation from investors including Ubisoft, Sequoia China, Dragonfly Capital, and others.

Moreover, the company established venture funds such as MetaHollywood with Planet Hollywood and OneFootball Labs with OneFootball. Animoca Brands also acquired another prominent technology company in education, with details set to be announced soon.

Animoca Brands' investment fund is poised to set a record for creating the largest NFT currency unit ever conducted, following the launch of NFTs enabling owners to participate in building Otherside and acquire virtual real estate parcels on this platform.

Furthermore, Animoca Brands is collaborating with ApeCoin DAO to launch the ApeCoin (APE) and PRIMATE Token – a play-to-earn token for the mobile game Benji Bananas.

In Japan, Animoca Brands expanded its footprint by establishing the strategic company Animoca Brands Japan with an initial investment of $10 million.
