Animoca Brands Invests in Farcana
Animoca Brands, a Hong Kong-based company established in 2016 by Yat Siu, specializes in distributing NFT games and blockchain technology. The company has pioneered several top blockchain games in the cryptocurrency market.
Animoca Games has released numerous products, including the REVV token and The Sandbox's SAND token, alongside games like Crazy Defense Heroes and Crazy Kings. Animoca has also invested in companies such as Dapper Labs, Sky Mavis, CryptoKitties, Axie Infinity, and OpenSea.
Yat Siu, Co-founder of Animoca Brands and recipient of the DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Award in 2009, is known for founding Cybercity, Asia's first free webmail and website provider.
Animoca Brands Invests in Farcana
On November 27, 2023, Farcana, a game development company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, received a strategic investment from Animoca Brands aimed at advancing NFT games and the metaverse universe. The investment targets the swift launch of the beta version of their game, Farcana.
Built on Unreal Engine 5, Farcana is a third-person PvP shooter NFT game and is set to be one of the first AAA Web3 games to introduce 'Free Mint' with Bitcoin ordinals (free minting of Bitcoin ordinals NFTs on the Bitcoin blockchain).
The game has already garnered over 40,000 followers and plans to organize new tournaments based on initial playtests in Dubai.
Since the second quarter of 2023, Animoca Brands has collaborated with Farcana to develop market access and economic strategies. This partnership strengthens Animoca Brands' presence in the MENA region and follows their recent announcement of a strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia's NEOM.
Yat Siu commented on working with Farcana, "Over the past year, we have been impressed with Farcana's development and appeal. This strategic investment in Farcana is part of Animoca Brands' vision to drive Web3 development in MENA, a region undergoing modernization and adopting new technologies."

In November, HH Sheikh Hamdan of Dubai launched the "Dubai Games 2033 Program" to strengthen the UAE and Dubai's digital economy, highlighting the region's growing future in Web3 development.
