Azuki NFT Collection Partners with Arbitrum to Launch AnimeChain

The Azuki NFT project is collaborating with Arbitrum to introduce a blockchain tailored specifically for anime enthusiasts.

Introducing AnimeChain

AnimeChain, unveiled by the Arbitrum Foundation in partnership with the Weeb3 Foundation and Chiru Labs, aims to establish itself as a blockchain-powered one-stop shop for creators and fans of anime.

Together, these organizations form the AnimeChain consortium, stating that AnimeChain will offer an online anime ecosystem managed by the community. The platform will encompass anime content, third-party anime content, games, merchandise, and NFTs.

"As a launch partner of AnimeChain, Azuki evaluated existing Ethereum scaling solutions with the Weeb3 Foundation, and after consultations with various groups, Azuki and the Weeb3 Foundation found Arbitrum to be the most suitable choice for AnimeChain." Location TBA - President of Azuki

Offchain Labs introduced Arbitrum in August 2021 as an Ethereum scaling solution utilizing optimistic rollups to accelerate transaction speeds and reduce fees. It is capable of processing up to 40,000 transactions per second (TPS), which the team believes will enable AnimeChain to swiftly attract millions of anime fans.

In February, over 50% of ApeCoin DAO voted to utilize the Arbitrum network for their upcoming "ApeChain". Also in that month, Proof of Play, the studio behind the blockchain RPG Pirate Nation, announced their adoption of Arbitrum for their forthcoming games.

According to Location TBA, the concept of AnimeChain emerged after recognizing that transactions on traditional networks were time-consuming and observing companies like Meta—where they claim to have worked—dedicating entire teams to eliminating files within milliseconds. With a block time of 250 milliseconds, TBA explained, Arbitrum will help bring web3 closer to the user experience of web2 for anime enthusiasts worldwide.

They stated: "After completing the technical review process, it became evident that Arbitrum is the most efficient scaling solution." "Therefore, Azuki supports the Weeb3 Foundation in further developing Arbitrum for AnimeChain."

AnimeChain will be maintained by the Weeb3 Foundation, an organization dedicated to developing networks focused on anime.

To ensure comprehensiveness and accessibility for new anime fans entering the Web3 space, Location TBA indicated that AnimeChain will provide a user-friendly interface to simplify interaction without requiring deep knowledge of blockchain technology, similar to how widely used applications like Crunchyroll do not demand encryption skills.

Nina Rong, Ecosystem Development Director at the Arbitrum Foundation, commented: “We are delighted to collaborate with the Weeb3 Foundation and Azuki to introduce AnimeChain.” “With the most advanced blockchain scaling technology in the industry, Arbitrum will empower AnimeChain to redefine the anime experience for fans and creators worldwide.”

The Arbitrum Foundation was launched in March 2023 to support and develop the Arbitrum network and community.

Introducing Azuki

Azuki was launched in January 2022 by Chiru Labs, headquartered in Los Angeles. The collection of 10,000 anime-themed NFTs on Ethereum currently has a floor price of 4,868 ETH, approximately equivalent to $17,583 USD on Magic Eden.

"By launching anime products, games, and physical items on AnimeChain, [Azuki] is providing detailed plans for other leading anime IPs to be developed on-chain," Location TBA stated.
