Beginner's Guide to Posting NFTs on Facebook

Meta's parent company, Facebook, has announced its support for users to post NFTs on Facebook and connect with crypto wallets.

Users can connect hot wallets such as Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, and Dapper Wallet to share digital collections minted on Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow.

Meta representatives stated, "As we continue to roll out digital collections on Facebook and Instagram, we have begun to enable people to post the digital collections they own on both platforms. This will allow people to connect their digital wallets once to either app to share their digital collections on both platforms."

The company has tested NFTs on both platforms since May. Here's a quick reminder of what Meta has done in the digital collectibles space to date:

  • March 2022: Mark Zuckerberg announced that NFTs would soon be on Instagram.
  • May 2022: Instagram first started testing NFTs with selected creators in May.
  • June 2022: Zuckerberg expanded the trial to more people, saying NFTs would soon come to Facebook.
  • June 2022: Facebook began showcasing digital collections with creators in the US.
  • July 2022: Meta launched NFT support on Instagram in 100 countries.

Here's a guide on how to post NFTs on Facebook quickly and easily.

Preparation

Currently, Facebook supports posting NFTs on Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow blockchains.

You'll need the MetaMask wallet and NFTs in your wallet to connect to Facebook. If you don't have MetaMask, you can find installation and usage instructions here.

Guide to Posting NFTs on Facebook

Step 1: Visit https://www.facebook.com/digital_wallets to connect MetaMask wallet to Facebook.

Step 2: Select connect to MetaMask wallet.

Step 3: Choose the NFTs you want to publish on Facebook.

Step 4: Select "share to feed."

Once you have posted your NFTs, they will appear similar to other images on Facebook but will be tagged as "digital products," allowing people to click through to view all information about the NFTs you have posted.

Meta is Pushing NFTs to the Forefront

In addition to expanding support for showcasing various digital collections, Facebook is also working on custom actions for NFT posts and digital collectible collections. Earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that Meta would work to display NFTs through Instagram Stories and make them compatible with Spark AR.

While other platforms like Twitter and Reddit focus on profile pictures based on NFTs (PFP NFTs), Meta is trying to reach more audiences by introducing features that allow people to display their digital collectibles through posts.

The company's plan is to support all blockchains and multiple crypto wallets so that people can post NFTs conveniently. Moreover, those curious about cryptocurrencies can view NFT posts like any other posts in their feed to learn more about them.

Many artists have already posted NFTs on Facebook and Instagram. Executives have outlined a long-term roadmap to support creators and will create a Digital Art Marketplace to promote trading activities on the platform.
