DappRadar Reports Surge in Web3 Gaming Wallets

DappRadar is a platform dedicated to monitoring and analyzing decentralized applications (DApps) across various blockchains, notably Ethereum, BNB Chain, and others.

It assists users in tracking, comparing, and evaluating DApp performance based on metrics such as daily active users, transaction volumes, and other statistics.

The platform provides detailed insights into DApps across diverse sectors including decentralized finance (DeFi), web3 NFT games, and various other decentralized applications.

New Statistics on Web3 Gaming Wallets
According to a report published on November 16, 2023, by DappRadar, the number of web3 gamers has been steadily increasing since last month, reaching 1 million active wallets in October.

In September, there were consecutive days with 1 million daily active users, and in October, this increased to four days. While this growth might seem modest compared to the previous month, DappRadar's report underscores the sector's robust expansion in web3 gaming.

The number of users connecting wallets for web3 gaming is rising, reminiscent of late 2021 and early 2022 when games like Splinterlands, Alien Worlds, and Axie Infinity thrived.

In recent weeks, NFT MMORPG games have experienced significant growth spurts.

At the beginning of October, Pixels initially saw minimal user interest, but by the month's end, it boasted 6,000 concurrently active accounts.

According to DappRadar data, from November 6 to 10, Pixels had approximately 50,000 active wallets connected to the platform.

However, on November 15, Axie Infinity co-founder The Jiho posted statistics showing that Pixels had surpassed 100,000 daily active users.

Challenges of Tool and Trick Usage in Web3 Games
However, a persistent issue in many web3 games, including web3 gaming overall, is the widespread use of tools, tricks, or bots to exploit game systems. This mirrors the early days of Axie Infinity, where players set up NFT pet farms, assembled makeshift teams, and engaged in battles with other users—sometimes with dozens or even hundreds of such accounts, earning substantial profits.

In October, Alien Worlds' official Twitter account reported at least 1.6 million accounts were bots and could potentially increase further.

While some of the over 133,000 daily active accounts in Alien Worlds may be genuine, Oleg Fomenko, CEO of Sweat Economic, noted, "We've spent 9 years verifying non-earning virtual accounts, but their motivations might support primary accounts or exploit game vulnerabilities."

This issue requires time to address for a more civilized and sustainable web3 gaming community to develop.
