Galaxy Commanders Game to Launch on Immutable zkEVM

A blockchain game titled Galaxy Commanders, designed for both mobile and PC devices, is set to launch on Immutable zkEVM. Developed by MagmaByte, a startup comprising talent from major companies like EA and Nexon, Galaxy Commanders is slated for release on Ethereum's Immutable zkEVM in July 2023.

What is Galaxy Commanders Game?

Galaxy Commanders is a space-themed PvP (Player vs Player) shooter game announced for release on Immutable zkEVM in July 2023. Developed by MagmaByte, a startup involving developers from Electronic Arts (EA), NCSoft, and Nexon, Galaxy Commanders will task players with leading fast-paced space battles and cooperative conquests of planets using various strategic approaches. At first glance, it resembles EVE Online or Star Citizen but incorporates NFTs into gameplay.

In these space battles, players can collect unique battleships to build their customized fleets. Each battleship comes with its own image, technical specifications, and unique upgradeable skills, while other upgrades exist as NFTs and in-game currency called Dimensium within Galaxy Commanders.

MagmaByte has partnered with Immutable to launch the game on Immutable zkEVM, which is currently a prominent layer-2 solution for large-scale blockchain games in the market. The specialized design of Immutable X for blockchain gaming led the Galaxy Commanders team to select this platform for development.

Galaxy Commanders will be playable on both PC and mobile platforms, utilizing Immutable X's Passport wallet—a simple wallet designed for gamers to integrate transactions and cryptocurrencies with a well-organized login system.

Immutable X ZkEVM has been developed from the ground up to address the most pressing issues in the Web3 Game industry, including scalability and user introduction.

In addition to being a layer-2 platform, Immutable is also recognized as a publisher with popular blockchain games like Gods Unchained and the upcoming Guild of Guardians.

Galaxy Commanders Team

John Lee, Founder of Galaxy Commanders, previously managed the mobile publishing division at Nexon for 5 years before joining MagmaByte. Taewoon Yoon, Co-founder and CEO, has a background of 5 years at EA Korea and Asia Pacific.

"Our decision is guided by Immutable's strong focus on gaming and the genuine passion their team brings," said Lee. "Together, we hope to push the boundaries of Web3 Games, making them more accessible and engaging for a larger gaming community."

The release date for Galaxy Commanders has yet to be announced, but MagmaByte is currently fundraising in a round led by Shima Capital.
