Game Shardbound Raises $5M on Immutable zkEVM

Bazooka Tango, a mobile game studio founded by former Vainglory MOBA developers, is making waves in the gaming industry with its commitment to high-quality games across VR, console, mobile, and PC platforms. Recently, the studio has set its sights on the NFT gaming market with the upcoming release of Shardbound.

On November 16, 2023, Bazooka Tango secured a significant investment of $5 million from Bitkraft Ventures, RW3 Ventures, Sfermion, and 1Up Ventures. This funding round aims to expand Bazooka Tango’s team and further develop Shardbound, a game set to run on the Immutable zkEVM network.

Bo Daly, CEO of Bazooka Tango, emphasized the importance of this funding amid challenging times in venture capital, stating, "This investment speaks volumes about the quality of our games." Daly added, "We will focus on expanding our team and optimizing the development of Shardbound."

Shardbound, an NFT game combining card game mechanics with RPG elements, requires players to strategically deploy characters in turn-based combat scenarios. Although initially developed by independent developers at Spiritwalk Games, the game received limited Kickstarter funding totaling approximately $150,000 in 2017. With this new multi-million dollar investment, Shardbound is poised for significant growth under Bazooka Tango, which has recruited executives from major corporations like Apple, Disney, and Electronic Arts, as well as developers from renowned studios such as 2K, Sledgehammer Games, and Pocket Gems.

The future looks promising for Shardbound as it prepares to leverage Immutable’s zkEVM network and Bazooka Tango’s extensive resources to deliver a compelling NFT gaming experience.
