HCMC Eases Shopping Restrictions in Three Districts
HCMC has announced the relaxation of shopping restrictions in three districts starting Thursday, as part of a phased reopening strategy.
Residents of districts 7, Cu Chi, and Can Gio will now be permitted to shop once a week. In contrast, residents in other districts will continue to rely on military personnel and municipal authorities for their essential shopping needs until the end of the month.
In "green" areas where the Covid-19 situation is under control, small parks can open while maintaining social distancing measures. However, larger parks like Le Van Tam, Tao Dan, and Ban Nguyet Lake will remain closed.
The city plans to pilot a "green Covid-19 card" application in the three aforementioned districts before extending it city-wide. This digital solution will consolidate Covid-19-related information, eliminating the need for residents to carry physical documents.
Delivery workers are permitted to operate from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and can travel between districts, provided they test negative for Covid-19 once every two days.
Certain businesses, including postal services, computer and stationary stores, as well as eateries and coffee shops (limited to takeaway services only), can operate from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
HCMC has been heavily affected by the fourth wave of Covid-19, with 309,700 cases reported, nearly half of Vietnam’s total infections. The city has been under.
