Kakao's Metabora Joins Oasys Chain

Oasys, a blockchain focusing on gaming development, has announced a new partnership with Metabora SG, the web3 gaming arm of South Korea's leading game company Kakao Games.

According to a statement from Oasys, this collaboration aims to "create and deliver superior blockchain games to a broader audience." It is part of Oasys's 2024 "Dragon Update" plan, focusing on expanding interactivity capabilities, developing the ecosystem, and creating high-quality game content.

Dominic Jang, Business Development Director and South Korea Managing Director at Oasys, commented, "We are excited to collaborate with Metabora SG, a company that shares our vision for revolutionizing the gaming industry through blockchain technology."

Kakao Games is known for publishing games such as Black Desert Line and PUBG in South Korea. Its parent company, Kakao, is perhaps best known for KakaoTalk, a popular domestic free chat service. Metabora has introduced several blockchain games, including the puzzle game Skill Blitz, the golf game Birdie Shot, and the role-playing game ArcheStar.

Jang stated that the partnership "marks another significant milestone in further expanding business in South Korea." Oasys also hopes to leverage its existing network in Japan to support the expansion of Metabora SG into that market.

In recent months, Oasys has emerged as the chosen network for traditional gaming giants expanding into the Web3 world. Game publisher Ubisoft, known for Assassin's Creed, is currently developing its first native blockchain game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, on Oasys. Ubisoft launched a collection of Ethereum NFTs related to the game in December.

Furthermore, Sega is collaborating with Japan's Double Jump.Tokyo studio to bring some of its IPs into Web3 games through Oasys, starting with Battle of the Three Kingdoms. Meanwhile, gaming giant Bandai Namco (Pac-Man, Tekken) released an AI-driven blockchain test game last year.

Most recently, Oasys announced that South Korean mobile game publisher Com2uS will bring games from their XPLA ecosystem to Oasys.
