Mobile Game Legends at War Launches on Avalanche Subnet

The mobile game Legends at War, available on Android and iOS, is confirmed to introduce an NFT-supported version on Avalanche.

The studio behind Legends at War is establishing its own subnet on Avalanche and will launch a blockchain version, developers Solert Games and Ava Labs recently confirmed.

Legends at War (LAW) is a free-to-play mobile game currently available on iOS and Android without cryptocurrency elements. It's a real-time multiplayer online strategy game where players get a panoramic view of medieval England landscapes and lead armies in battles to conquer castles, defend fortresses, build homes for villagers, and create a prosperous virtual world.

Soert's game has garnered over 10,000 downloads to date on the Google Play Store, maintaining a 4.2 rating at the time of writing.

Ed Chang, Ava Labs’ Head of Gaming, confirmed that Legends at War will integrate NFTs into its gameplay to create its own economy. Soert is currently focused on building a platform allowing Legends at War and third-party games to leverage their virtual economy through NFTs and tokens. The subnet will serve as a Web3 tool for game developers deploying with support from Soert Games and Ava Labs respectively.

Soert plans to use its subnet — a dedicated version of the Avalanche blockchain — to facilitate transactions using its LAW token as gas. While specific details on how Soert will release its NFTs remain undisclosed, the studio plans to enable gamers to vote on governance and strategy decisions.

"Our mission is to integrate the social aspects of Web2 with user control and decentralization of Web3 to create a better gaming experience," said Wojciech Kaszycki, CEO and co-founder of Solert Games.

The current version of Legends at War, a non-blockchain game, has received endorsement from actor Hafthor Bjornsson, known for his role as "The Mountain" in the HBO series "Game of Thrones" based on George RR Martin's novels.

The actor's portrait currently features in promotional images for the game on Apple App Store and Google Play Store, aiming to establish a trusted approach and initial support for introducing blockchain mobile games.

Formerly known as Sabre Games, Solert Games recently rebranded due to copyright issues with Sabre Interactive, known for titles like World War Z and Evil Dead: The Game.

Besides Solert, numerous other studios such as Com2uS, Mythical Games, and InfiniGods are also prioritizing mobile device accessibility for blockchain games to reach a broader audience.
