Notcoin to Launch Story-Driven Web3 Game with Lost Dogs and Getgems

Notcoin is set to unveil a new story-driven Web3 game in partnership with the NFT collection Lost Dogs and the Getgems marketplace on The Open Network (TON). The game will offer players the opportunity to earn Notcoin (NOT) tokens and a new in-game currency.

From Viral Clicker to Story-Driven Gameplay

Having previously gained traction with a viral clicker game that onboarded over 30 million users in under two months, Notcoin is now pivoting towards a more sustainable model. The new game aims to provide a deeper, more engaging experience and shift from a simple cryptocurrency into a full-fledged community-driven initiative.

In the upcoming game, players will interact with Lost Dogs NFTs as characters, completing various tasks and making choices to evolve their gameplay experience.

The Limitations of Tap-to-Earn

In a statement to Cointelegraph, Notcoin acknowledged that its previous tap-to-earn model was not viable for long-term growth. Despite its initial success, the project decided to end its mining phase at its peak on April 1. This move reflects a strategic shift towards more enduring engagement strategies.

The Value of Storytelling in Gaming

Mad Tail, the chief barking officer of the Lost Dogs collection, emphasized the importance of narrative in gaming. “Life itself is a narrative concept,” Mad Tail said. “Our goal is to align this narrative synchronicity in our game — as above, so below.” The Lost Dogs team believes that despite the trend towards instant gratification mechanics, players still seek compelling narratives.

Earning and Innovation

Players will still have the chance to earn Notcoin tokens and a new in-game token in the upcoming story-driven game, merging traditional gaming with innovative Web3 elements.

NFTs Enhancing the Gaming Experience

Despite recent declines in NFT sales volumes, the technology continues to be embraced by some industry leaders. For example, Atari has utilized NFTs as access passes for its on-chain arcade, enabling players to compete on a global leaderboard and have their high scores recorded on the blockchain.

Mad Tail shared his view on NFTs, stating that they are a valuable tool for enriching the gaming experience. “We see NFTs as a means to enhance the sense of ownership within the game,” he explained. “This is why we’ve chosen to incorporate NFTs into our playground.”

The collaboration between Notcoin and Lost Dogs represents an experiment in blending innovative concepts to create a unique and engaging gaming experience.
