Playing games to earn Bitcoin with Zebedee app has raised over $45M
Zebedee's app currently supports popular mobile games - including Dragon City and Slotomania - rewarding Bitcoin per minute for players.
About Zebedee
Launched in October 2019, Zebedee is an infrastructure company focused on Bitcoin, specializing in releasing games through a mobile app. The latest games in the lineup, Bitcoin Chess and Bitcoin Scratch, were launched in collaboration with London-based studio Viker.
In July 2022, Zebedee secured an additional $35 million in funding following an $11 million Series A round in September 2021. Zebedee and Viker have released Solitaire and Sudoku games on mobile devices, offering players the opportunity to earn Bitcoin.
Dan Beasley, Co-founder of Viker, stated: "Introducing gameplay for money on Zebedee's platform isn't about making money for players, it's about creating a more enjoyable experience. Earning these small rewards just helps you feel great and doesn't significantly impact most people's lives."
In September 2022, Zebedee partnered with adtech startup Slice to implement Lightning network Bitcoin payments for watching ads on browsers after installing the Slice browser extension.
New games allowing players to earn Bitcoin
In June 2023, Bitcoin payment startup Zebedee launched a new feature in their Android app where you can earn a small amount of Bitcoin by playing games on Zebedee's platform.
Zebedee's Android app, called ZBD, now offers a variety of games with Bitcoin rewards thanks to new partnerships with ad platforms Adjoe and Playtime network. Games use a time-based rewards model to reward players with satoshis (small units of Bitcoin) for every minute they play.
According to the company, games eligible for Bitcoin rewards through the ZBD Android app include Candivore's puzzle game Match Masters, Playtika's Slotomania, and Social Point's Dragon City.
All three games have significant player bases, with at least 10 million downloads per game on Google's Play Store. However, to earn rewards while playing, you need to access them through the ZBD Android app, after which you'll receive Bitcoin while playing and viewing ads.
This feature is only available through the Android app, not on iOS. Players earn satoshis as they play, which are then held in the ZBD wallet and can be withdrawn to another compatible wallet or exchange.
Zebedee's technology platform has supported several games that reward players with Bitcoin, including iOS and Android games like Hellfire, Bitcoin Miner, and Bitcoin Chess. The company previously launched modified servers for the popular first-person shooter game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, allowing players to bet and earn Bitcoin.
Other mobile games that play to earn money offer Bitcoin and Ethereum rewards, such as Bitcoin Solitaire and Ethereum Blast from Bling Financial. However, these games typically offer very small amounts of cryptocurrency and therefore haven't gained much attention.
