Splinterlands (SPS), an NFT card game inspired by Hearthstone
Splinterlands is an NFT card game inspired by classics like Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone, where players build collections of cards with diverse attributes and battle against others based on skill.
The game allows players to buy, sell, and trade digital assets, similar to physical trading card games such as Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh!
Highlights of Splinterlands
Running on the Hive blockchain ensures transparency with all in-game actions recorded on the blockchain, including battle outcomes.
Players can start playing for free, but unlocking full game features for "play to earn" requires a minimum investment of $10 to purchase a SpellBook from the shop.
The SpellBook unlocks game features like daily quests, seasonal competitions for rewards, and earning Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) tokens.
Splinterlands boasts a diverse collection of over 500 NFT cards categorized into Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary types, each with unique elements and special skills.
Each card type has different circulation limits, with Legendary cards being the rarest and considered the most powerful.
Gameplay
Players compete against similarly ranked opponents, receiving a randomly selected set of battle stats. Both players then arrange their cards for optimal performance.
Once both players finalize their setups, battles commence automatically based on predefined game rules. The first player to eliminate all opponent cards wins.
Earning Rewards from Splinterlands
There are three ways players can earn rewards:
- Participate in ranked matches:
Winning matches increases your ranking points, qualifying you for higher-tier tournaments, premium card unlocks, and larger rewards.
- Complete daily quests:
Completing tasks unlocks 5 out of 6 daily loot chests, which contain various items including DEC tokens, healing potions, and valuable NFT cards.
- Purchase Azmare Dice Box:
Test your luck by purchasing boxes for 3000 DEC / 1 Box (~$16). These boxes offer chances to acquire super rare NFT cards for potential resale on the marketplace.
Tokenomics
Splinterlands utilizes two tokens: SPS as the governance token and DEC as the utility token for earning.
