Why Blockchain Needs to Become "Invisible" in P2E Games

Game developer Com2uS is pushing forward with its Web3 projects by launching its own blockchain to create strong demand among next-generation gamers.

According to Kyu Lee, the company's president, who spoke at the 2022 Korea Blockchain Week in Seoul, the launch of Com2uS's new blockchain aims to create its own Web3 version where everyone can play and experience freely.

For him, blockchain represents the next step towards the company's clear presence in the gaming industry:

"It's almost a no-brainer; who wouldn't want to play a game that offers ownership of a digital world? I think everything will move towards games like this, and we've had to make every effort to solidify our position in this market."

Com2uS's research team has swiftly transitioned to Web3 and developed a blockchain SDK.

He also explains one of the failures when starting to play Web3 games, which involves buying and selling ownership of NFTs.

New users must purchase project tokens, use that money to buy NFTs, set up a wallet, and participate in centralized exchanges before they can consider starting to play the game.

In Com2uS's vision, users can start playing without needing to own initial NFTs:

"After playing, once you reach a certain level, you earn rewards and convert them into tokens. Then you link them to your wallet, and it converts your assets. This approach is really different from most Web3 games currently on the market."

According to Lee, the research team has observed a positive response to this method during development:

"We've also seen that retention rates have increased significantly just by skipping the steps of owning initial NFTs. It really makes a difference."

Playing NFT games and especially play-to-earn games is a key tool for those who are not familiar with the cryptocurrency market but find it easy to apply Web3 technology. Moreover, GameFi is hardly affected by the cryptocurrency market downturn.

He further shares, "We know that a significant number of new users have joined because it has a play-to-earn aspect. I think the free gaming market has already been a revolution."

However, Com2uS's president emphasized some unsustainable trends in the current GameFi industry:

"We've noticed that many companies have issued tokens and attached them to games. We thought that approach was simply a mistake."

His company has created C2X, a Web3 gaming platform with "core governance tokens, and you'll have unique tokens for each game."

In summary, Gamefinity has compiled important news about Web3 GameFi in this article, which you can read and study further.
