Xociety Game Raises $7.5M for Development on SUI Blockchain

Third-person shooter game Xociety is set to launch on Sui blockchain by late 2024 after securing new funding.

The game raised $7.5 million in a Pre-series A round to bring the third-person shooter Xociety onto the SUI blockchain.

The funding round was led by Hashed and Sui Foundation, with additional investment from Spartan, Neoclassic, Big Brain Holdings, and game publisher PUBG Krafton.

Jeffry Kim, founder of NDUS, stated, "We are focused on creating a sustainable player interaction model, steering clear of short-term monetization schemes often seen in some Web3 games." "This investment will help us blend the best aspects of traditional games with the capabilities of Web3."

Xociety introduces features such as an in-game corporation system allowing players to own shares and manage economic entities within the game world. It combines role-playing elements and third-person shooting with a newly structured reward system based on skills.

A recent beta test for Xociety attracted over 3,000 users from 76 countries, who collectively played over 11,000 hours with a 77% retention rate over one week. The game is being developed by industry veterans including Myoungjin Lee, known for Ragnarok, and Sang Chung, former Director of PlayDapp.

The game is slated for release later this year, with the next playable event scheduled for July.

Xociety previously launched the XOCIETY Frontier collection on Ethereum, but NDUS announced in April that they will ultimately debut the game on Sui.

Stay tuned to see what this game brings in the near future.
